Spoke with State Permanency Rep and learned... - Adoption.com ...

I am in a position not of what I want. I was foster-to-adopt for the county. Here, that meant I had a foster license and an adoption license, so I could go either way. Our county decided some 4 months back (suddenly) to CLOSE their foster care department. (Same nut job closed the foster care department of a neighboring county before he came to ours.) So now I have NO choice but to go to a private agency. The choice was to stay with the county for Adoption only (HUGE joke in my county unless you want older kids) or to go to private agency and take a chance on foster-to-adopt. I chose the latter because I am hopeful for a foster-to-adopt youngster.

I'll tell you, since getting my Chubbs, and actually being "open for adoption" I cannot believe how many kids become available, mostly from neighboring counties. If I didn't have Chubbs, I would be jumping all over a recent set, 3 kids, only 2 are TPRd, but the 3rd, an absolute angel, is from another state and due for TPR but will take time. But 4 is too much for me as a single mom. See, while I had my girls, I couldn't pursue adoptions because I was limited to 2 kids foster or adopt for 2 years.

I am just waiting for some slow babysitters to get their paperwork into the private agency and I will be playing the waiting and praying game again. I love my Chunky Monkey but I still want a little girl.

If I get another long-termer that RU, in a less than safe situation, I will be closing my home. I have decided that if Chubbs is all that I have, that will be good enough for me.
